The Finance Committee of the Coble School Board reviewed the costs of operation with the new health and safety standards as well as faculty/staff employee costs. After a full review, the board decided to not raise the rates for the upcoming school year. The following blessings made that possible:
-The Georgia Cumberland Conference graciously decided to cover property insurance costs for the upcoming fiscal year.
-The instructional faculty will not be receiving an anticipated cost of living raise.
-CES was awarded $22,000 from the CARES Act funding dedicated to assist private schools in maintaining proper sanitization protocols to ensure the health of our children and faculty.

Coble Elementary School strives to treat families fairly and with understanding. During the past quarantine, funds not utilized for hot lunch or aftercare remained available for either refund or future credit.
Virtual instruction, although outside of the school building facility, increase the costs of the school substantially. With this in mind, the tuition and fees for school year 2020-2021 will remain the same for both in person and virtual options.
With the exception of refunds or pro-rated credits for optional services such as aftercare or hot lunch, which are not utilized during a quarantine period, there will be no tuition or registration fee refunds. Those facing financial difficulty are asked to contact Mrs. Helbley or Mrs. Blackwell as soon as possible to discuss possible financial assistance.
Coble Elementary School Finance committee prepares budgets for the school each spring. The single largest line item for the budget remains instructional staffing. Salaries for these individuals make up 75% of the school budget. When the school pivots to the virtual setting, these costs remain the same. Furthermore, the virtual setting requires additional technology purchases including: equipment for casting, subscriptions for virtual resources, replacement of broken Chromebooks, increased postage for mailing materials, etc. Unlike a school designed only for virtual instruction, the building must continue to be maintained during a closure. While we understand the impact that supervising your own children during a quarantine brings, unfortunately, the financial requirements to function both in the virtual and in-person setting is considerably increased.
During the summer of 2020, the John L. Coble Elementary School Technology Committee, Finance Committee, and School Board met and approved a plan to substantially increase the level of technology available to assist teachers, students and parents as they pivot between in-person and virtual education. They approved $45,000 of technology purchases to improve the virtual connections offered from Coble Elementary School. Along with this, professional development funds and time have been dedicated by administration and staff to help everyone improve their instructional practice in the virtual setting. In fact, faculty continue to dedicate their time, outside of their paid contract, in order to prepare appropriately for this hybrid setting. We are grateful for their commitment to ensuring the academic success of each child during this difficult time, and thank you for understanding the financial constraints we function under.
John L. Coble Elementary School faculty work diligently to plan and guide children in spiritual, academic, social/emotional, and physical growth. In the in-person setting, when not actively instructing children, teachers work with individual students in need, provide feedback to students through grading and assessment, supervise students at play, and prepare for future instruction.
When fully in the virtual setting, teachers continue to utilize their time in the same manner. Planning and maintaining virtual instruction requires additional commitments of time by the faculty. Feedback from parents through the spring 2020 survey indicated that families were in need of additional instructional periods and support during the virtual education experience. This information has been utilized by the administration to create a more comprehensive school wide approach to scheduling, the online curriculum, and the creation of a family support system should Coble Elementary School be required to quarantine during the school year. A website dedicated to the virtual experience for John L. Coble Elementary students is in process for publication prior to the school year.
